Youth Advisory Board members organized an event called Pop-Up Summer – a community gathering, this event was free and open to the public, geared towards youth ages 5-18, and was held in a vacant lot in the 48th ward.
Youth Advisory Board designed the event to respond to the need for more youth-friendly public spaces, to encourage community members to meet each other and actively build community, and to show the potential of vacant and abandoned lots. Working with Alderman Osterman’s office, YAB members selected the space and designed a day full of activities for youth of all ages.
