Land Acknowledgement

We at Alternatives Youth, located at 241 E. 57th St., Chicago, IL 60637, wish to acknowledge that we are on the traditional lands of the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odawa nations. Many other tribes such as the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac, and Fox also called this area home. The region has long been a center for Indigenous people to gather, trade, and maintain kinship ties. Today, one of the largest indigenous communities in the United States resides in Chicago. We recognize that this land acknowledgment is but one small step towards true allyship and we commit to honoring the past, present, and future contributions of the Indigenous people of this land.
