On August 15, 2013, our RJ Summer Interns put on an amazing youth-focused, youth-led Restorative Justice Expo event at our Uptown youth center.

The event was organized to promote empathy, youth voice, and dialogue around how young people are viewing and addressing social justice issues in the community.

The RJ Interns prepared for the Expo by crafting and practicing an engaging agenda full of teambuilders, reflection, and – of course—talking circles! Perfecting their Circle Keeping skills by leading their own small group talking circles, the Interns asked participants to share their thoughts on topics such as prejudice, discrimination, and areas of need in the Chicago. Within each circle, ideas were generated about how each young person could be an agent for change around these issues.

What a powerful day of reflection and youth voice! Thank you to all who supported, attended, and led the event. We could not have done it without you!
